2022 IASJ Survey

2022 IASJ Questionnaire -IASJ Board June 1st 2022

As the IASJ looks into the future, it is clear that changes are needed to ensure the financial longevity of the institution, and its impact in the ever changing field of jazz. The formula of the IASJ Jazz Meeting, once new, unique, progressive and one of its kind, has been more or less repeated over 30 times.

The IASJ board seeks to examine and understand the issues related to a steady drop in membership, and the difficulty attracting more members, as well as future meeting hosts. In the last 30 years of the IASJ existence, the jazz performance and education panorama has changed dramatically, and we have to change as well. Keeping what works and re-structuring what doesn’t is vital to the future of this organization.

Redefining roles such as the Artistic Director, Executive Director, and host schools, are an important part of this restructuring. We seek your input by the end of this IASJ meeting, and we plan to create an independent group to review the results and make recommendations. Your opinion is important to us, and it will remain anonymous.
