The IASJ and ACPA, the Academy of Creative and Performing Arts of the University in Leiden, are hosting the conference. The main focus is on ‘applied jazz research’: research that is strongly connected to jazz performance and jazz education. Ed Sarath is invited and has accepted to be one of the keynote speakers.
One of the goals of the conference is to create content for the IASJ Jazz Research Journal. The journal will be published by Grand Valley State University Libraries in Michigan, USA.
The conference takes place in Leiden, 20 minutes by train from Schiphol Airport. The Royal Conservatory in The Hague, 10 minutes by train from Leiden, invites the participant to visit the new building and enjoy a buffet. Professor Paul Craenen will talk about ACPA and students of the jazz department will perform.
The conference is now open to receive proposals for papers, presentations and discussion topics.
