The IASJ is the worldwide organization for jazz, jazz education and jazz research.

In 2003 the 1st IASJ Jazz Conference took place in The Hague, The Netherlands. About 80 participants from all over the world exchanged ideas, participated in workshops and listened to key note speaker Jamey Aebersold.

In 2010 the 2nd IASJ Jazz Conference took place in Corfu, Greece. Over 120 participants presented a large number of papers, were involved in discussions and played concerts. The special guest was Gunther Schuller.

The IASJ is a long standing member of the IMC, the International Music Coucil, affiliated with UNESCO.

The IASJ, founded in 1989, has brought together over 3000 students, teachers and directors of jazz studies from all over the world.
