Souza Lima Music Conservatory celebrates 30 years of existence.
The name, “Souza Lima” is associated with one of the most important classical Brazilian pianists of the twentieth century. Souza Lima has become recognized now as a synonym for dedication to musical instruction, through the Conservatory and College, which use the pianist’s name as patron.
The Jardins branch of Souza Lima was inaugurated in 1986. After that, it was Alphaville’s turn in 2003. The Moema branch followed in 2007 and the Percussion Center on the avenue, 9 de Julho, in 2011. In 2012, we will inaugurate the Lorena branch with the Audio Production and DJ Center.

Souza Lima Conservatory:
• National and International college program
• Conservatory with open courses, children’s courses, vip classes, audio, production, and studio facilities and courses
• Teaching staff made up of titled professors and renowned musicians in and outside of Brazil; a staff dedicated to the mission and vision of the institutions direction
• More than 40 thousand students have already passed through Souza Lima;
• Its own editing company with 12 titles, including method books and play-alongs edited in Brazil and distributed internationally in 5 languages by the German editor, Advance Music; the specialized Maestro Souza Lima library, including musical archives in Braille
• 30 years of piano and guitar competitions, national and international workshops, participation in innumerous national and international congresses, corporate show productions, student show productions in bars, theaters, festivals, seminaries, and more than 4 thousand events
• Founder of the SLCE (Souza Lima’s national and international partnership for music educators), CLAEM (Latin American Congress of Music Schools), ALAEMUS (Latin American Association of Music Schools) and IRSA (International Rhythmic Studies Association)

In addition to its partnership with Berklee College of music, in Boston, United States, Souza Lima has partnerships with Musicians Institute (MI) in Los Angeles, the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow Russia, the Newpark School in Dublin, Irland, and the Didier Lockwook Music Center in Paris, France.

In 2011, we began Souza Lima College of Music, offering a bachelor’s degree in instrumental vocal performance. In 2012, we held the first Souza Lima Photography exposition, SL 30 Years, with pictures of some of the musicians who have created part of the academic and musical history of Souza Lima’s past 30 years, as seen through the lens of the photographer Victor Kobayashi.

The IASJ is a long standing member of the IMC, the International Music Coucil, affiliated with UNESCO.

The IASJ, founded in 1989, brought together over 3000 jazz students, teachers and directors from all over the world.
