International Association of Schools of Jazz

International Association of Schools of Jazz

the worldwide organization for jazz, jazz education and jazz research

I am a double-bass player. As a musician I feel at home in a wide variety of music forms from jazz to free improvisation, into which I like to integrate elements of funk and Latin-american music.

From 1988 to 1995 I was a tutor for double bass and ensembles at the Jazz School St.Gallen. In 1995 I became head of the jazz department of the Music Academy Lucerne.

I am also committed to the improvement of the situation of Swiss jazz musicians in social, cultural and and, in particular, educational policy issues. I have been a council member of the Swiss Musicians Solidarity (SMS) since 1999, president of the Director's Conference of Swiss Schools of Jazz (DKSJ) since 2004, and a council member of SwissJazzOrama (Swiss Jazz Museum & Archive) since 2005.
